Christmas Activities Wish List

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! It’s a time when, for just a few short weeks, we get to do things that we won’t do for another whole year. We can: drink eggnog, sing Christmas songs, bake special cookies, light Christmas candles, hang ornaments and give gifts to everyone in the family at…

Creating New Family Traditions While Embracing The Old

What are your favorite family traditions? Do you find yourself repeating many of the same traditions you grew up with, or do you have more fun making your own new traditions? Maybe it’s just because it’s the holiday season, but I’ve been thinking about traditions these past few weeks. I remember when I was just…

Thanksgiving Activities Wish List

15 more days until Thanksgiving! And I have so much to be thankful for this year. Always at the top of my list are: family, the ability to learn alongside my kids every single day, to give them freedom to learn and do those things they are interested in and passionate about, strength to battle…

Our October Unschooling Activities & Resources

I don’t know when I’ve had a month where I’ve had so much fun and made so many memories, yet I’ve been so stressed and overwhelmed at the same time. We did a lot in October. Part of the problem, which really shouldn’t be a problem, was all the birthday and other special family celebrations…

Halloween Activity Wish List

Halloween is a big – HUGE- event at our house. The kids love dressing up. They usually decide on their costumes months in advance. This year we bought their costumes in the middle of September so they could dress up and play with them right away. I actually kind of like this because they get…

How to Balance a Child’s Interests with New Ideas & Experiences

Here’s a question I received on Interest-Led Learning’s Facebook page last week from Monica: When I was in school in 3rd grade we had to write a story a week on Thursdays. At first I hated it. It was hard and I really had no interest in it. BUT…after a few weeks I started to…

Our September Unschooling Activities & Resources

What a month! We started the month off driving back from our Rocky Mountain trip in Colorado. Throughout the month we also: tagged some butterflies, read some fun books about Egypt and Mozart, helped restore a prairie, watched circus tigers perform, and a lot more! I’m excited to be in this fall season, even though…
